Lisa Norman-Hudson WINS National Olympus Photography Contest

After entering the contest March 15th, then finding out on April 15th that 3 of my images made the contest, the judges have finally announced their decision.

I WON.

I've never been so excited to open an e-mail in my life. The subject line in the e-mail said, "congratulations from Olympus" and that's all I could see. Now I didn't know if that was congratulations for the on-line voting contest or for the BIG ONE where the 3 Olympus Judges chose a Grand Prize winner. I just stared at the screen for what seemed like an eternity before I opened up the e-mail. I'm actually happy to announce that I lost the on-line voting contest for the small camera kit. The good news is

I WON THE GRAND PRIZE.

Below you will find some of the Official announcement from Olympus and the Pellissippi State press release then some info about me. Thanks again to everyone that voted for my images, sorry we didn't win the on-line vote but we won the one that counted most!

Knoxville photographer and Pellissippi State Media Technology student Lisa Norman-Hudson was selected as the “Grand Prize Winner” by a panel of three Olympus Visionary judges on Tuesday June 30th, 2009. Her creative image titled, “The Dawn of Technology” looks like a city at sunrise, and after a closer look, that cityscape is actually a computer’s circuit board. Lisa had 3 of her 4 photo submissions selected as part of the top 20 images in the nationwide competition. As the grand prize winner, Lisa will receive a $5,000 scholarship and an Olympus E-3 camera, ED 12-60mm f2.8/4.0 SWD Zoom lens, ED 50-200mm f2.8/3.5 SWD Zoom lens and gadget bag for a total retail value of $3,700. Lisa is a freelance photographer in Knoxville, mother of 3 and attends Pellissippi State part-time. She was recently inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society this past year for her academic achievements while attending Pellissippi.
