Lisa Norman-Hudson and The Purple Lens show up at Bluegrass Elementary Science Fair

Photographer Lisa Norman-Hudson added her Purple touch to her son Caleb's 4th grade science fair project. This was such an amazing project and I learned a few things I'd forgotten. Caleb chose the Pinhole Camera to do his research on. He and his dad started the kit camera and Caleb and I finished it up and loaded film in it to start shooting. Yes, I said FILM. Funny, I had to call around and see who would actually develop it for us. Anyway then we built pinhole camera lenses out of pringles cans. It was awesome. The pringles can was just to be the camera but we had the idea of moving the lens (plastic lid) that we placed inside the canister to different areas and extending the length of the can. Doing all of this represented different focal length as a lens does. This is how we created the combo project. Wish him luck, the winner of the science fair will be announced tomorrow at the end of the year awards ceremony.

Images By Design Photojournalist Lisa Norman-Hudson to cover TVA Ash disaster for Erin Brockovich and New York legal team Weitz and Luxenberg

January 2009, I was asked by the legal team of Weitz and Luxenberg of New York City and consumer advocate Erin Brockovich to serve as their photojournalist in documenting the TVA coal ash disaster for the residents of Kingston TN. When the Roane County residents contacted Brockovich for help and expressed concerns over the possibility of filing lawsuits against TVA, Brockovich came to East Tennessee to survey the damage and meet with local residents. I plan to photograph any changes that take place during the next several months, interview residents and accompany Erin Brockovich and the legal team each time they return to East Tennessee to meet with the residents of Roane County. As seen in the photographs, consumer advocate Erin Brockovich talks with the press then heads to Kingston TN to look at the mass devistation unleashed upon the residents of Kingston TN just 3 days before Christmas 2008. The ariel views show just how great the damage is.

These were shot in the park area of the Farragut Library a few weeks ago during the peak of fall colors here in East Tn. I think all three of these kids could be models. We had a good shoot and everyone enjoyed some hot chocolate afterwords. Its starting to get a bit chilly and with the sun going down even earlier it makes for a shorter shooting time. We literally ran out of light. Enjoy!

Images By Design Photographer Lisa Norman-Hudson's image "Red Static" places in nationwide photo contest

Lisa, entered a "hair raising" photograph of her daughter Grace in the children's category of an online nationwide photo contest. While bouncing on the trampoline with her children and trying to photograph some neat flips in the air, Lisa turned around to catch her daughters beautiful copper red hair standing at attention. The contest winners were announced October 1st 2008 and the photograph titled "Red Static", placed first in children's category and then 3rd over all in the contest. Images Photographer completes additional training in Architecture Course

I've been in an architecture class that's ending this week. Its been a lot of fun shooting after the sun actually goes down.... To the human eye anyway. The camera sees so much more and with a tripod you can keep on shooting after dark. Its all about manipulating light! Enjoy a sneak peek at part of my final project. ~Lisa
