The Purple Lens photographs Bluegrass Elementary Lung Dissection

Ms. Mabry 4th Grade Science Lung Dissection

My son Lucas is in Ms. Mabrys science class so when I learned they would be dissecting a pig lung, I headed there with my purple lens in tow. Ms. Mabry's father assisted her in leading the children of Bluegrass Elementary through the pig lung dissection on December 16, 2009. It was a little smelly but super fun. Precautions were taken so they put on their protective clothing. One boy even put his on backwards. Some of the kids enjoyed the grossness of it all while others had to leave the room. We also learned that there really are heart strings! A fun part for the children was using straws to inflate the lungs of the pig. This really was a great learning experience that Ms. Mabry does for her science class. She really does make science fun!
